Welcome

Inventions blossom on the MIT campus. This educational project, Invent for the World (IFW), aims to provide MIT students with a fresh dimension of thinking that motivates and facilitates their scientific discoveries. The focus of IFW is to promote greater awareness in students’ invention process, addressing questions of how to identify ideas of great social value, and how to maximize the social benefit of an innovation.

Course 15.812, Marketing Management, will serve as the initial platform for the IFW project. Contrary to a common belief among many students, marketing is not the equivalent of selling or advertising. Instead, the course will emphasize the view that marketing centers on effectively serving the varying needs that stem from different segments of society.
